Humankind is by far the most ghastly creation in the known Universe. Its capacity for cruelty, greed, and destruction is boundless... (likewise is its capacity for doing good, but this seems to be less frequent)
I submit, however, that any act by humankind is as much an act of nature as lightning, or a mole tunnelling through earth. This is unfortunate for the rest of nature aside from humankind, though, since acts of nature are inherently unattributable to any form of intelligence capable of determining when it may not be such a bright idea to perform what would be considered egregious acts by a truly intelligent consciousness. It does appear that homo sapiens is at a fork in the evolutionary road at this time, those displaying awareness of and concern for their impact on Nature being the Natural homo sapiens; hopefully, they will overcome the hideous beasts who do nothing but consume and destroy. If this does not happen, don't make any plans to colonize Mars or to breathe.
In a nutshell, humankind is both part of nature and Cosmic Perversion, the grandest malformation of carbon-based molecules knowable. Humankind can be broken down into two categories: Natural and Cosmically Perverse. Although both categories of humans are part of nature, one is much more desirable than the other from any but an egocentric viewpoint. The Cosmically Perverse do not seem to be capable of seeing their world in any way other than how it can best be exploited to suit their immediate needs.
Don't be a Cosmic Pervert. Take a moment to reflect on your life and the way you interact with the various environments you are a part of. Try to use your central nervous system for more than goods, services and beings acquisition if you don't already.
